PSA Grading
PSA uses a 1-10 scale without published subgrades. The overall grade is determined by the lowest condition area, though graders have some discretion. PSA 10 (Gem Mint) requires near-perfect condition in all areas.
- PSA 10: Gem Mint - Virtually perfect
- PSA 9: Mint - One minor flaw
- PSA 8: Near Mint-Mint - Minor wear
- PSA 7: Near Mint - Slight wear
BGS Grading
BGS provides subgrades for Centering, Corners, Edges, and Surface. The overall grade is a weighted average, with corners and edges typically having more impact.
- BGS 10 Black Label: All four subgrades must be 10
- BGS 10 Pristine: Average of 10, no subgrade below 9.5
- BGS 9.5 Gem Mint: High subgrades averaging 9.5+
- BGS 9 Mint: Solid subgrades averaging 9+
CGC Grading
CGC uses a 1-10 scale similar to PSA. Popular for Pokémon and other TCG cards. They also offer subgrades as an optional service.
SGC Grading
SGC uses a 1-10 scale and is known for expertise in vintage cards. Their grading standards are considered consistent and fair.
