The September 2026 Shake-Up — What Just Changed
- Sept 2: SGC raised its entry price from $18 to $50 — the era of the $15–25 standard grade is over.
- Sept 9/14: PSA launched Standard at $59.99 (90–100 business days), renamed Regular → Priority ($79.99) and Walk-Through → Premier ($599), and raised Express to $199. Value tiers remain paused.
- Sept 15: Beckett briefly reopened Base ($17.95) and Standard ($34.95) — then closed both again on Sept 25. Only Express ($79.95) is accepting cards; Beckett's site/app remain on a temporary submission form.
- Sept 22: PSA's public backlog tracker showed ~9 million cards, down from the ~12.4M peak — but still well above the 5M threshold required to reopen Value tiers.
- Sept 25: Cooper Flagg's Topps Chrome NBA Debut Patch 1/1 sold for $8.04M at Fanatics Collect — a record for a single-player basketball card.

PSA says Value Bulk, Value, Value Plus, and Value Max will only reopen once the backlog drops below 5 million cards. At the current ~450K/week burn rate, the tracker projects Value returning no earlier than Q1 2027.
