Centering Importance Overview
Centering is one of the four main grading criteria (along with corners, edges, and surface). It measures how well the image is positioned within the card borders. Poor centering alone can drop a card from PSA 10 to PSA 8.
Measuring Card Centering
Centering is expressed as a ratio like 55/45 or 60/40. Measure the left and right borders, then calculate: smaller border ÷ (left + right) × 100. For example, 3mm left and 4mm right = 3 ÷ 7 × 100 = 43/57 centering.
